Classes of hosting services

A hosting solution involves hoarding and/or sharing specific web content on a web hosting server hosted by a hosting distributor. There are different kinds of hosting services used for various aims, so let's have a glimpse at them. In this way, you can determine what you want, on the basis of whether you wish to create a website, mailbox accounts, or to share files with buddies and colleagues.

- File hosting: a service furnished by given hosts, which allows you to share huge files. These could be disk images, movies, audio files, archived files, etc. This solution is also known as file storage, and its only function is to share files, since it does not offer website uploading. As soon as the files are uploaded, you will either receive a randomly created download link for each of them, or you will be able to read an index of all the files in a directory, but you will be unable to open .html or .php website files in your web browser. Free-of-charge file storage packages frequently include advertisements beside the download links, while a timer compels you to wait for a given span of time to perceive them. A single file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you have a paid file storage plan, there are no limitations as to how many files you can upload/download straight away, and also there is no restriction with regard to the download speed or the file size.

At present, with the help of the cPanel hosting providers, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more trendy "cloud hosting". This is a completely awry explanation of the literal definition of "cloud hosting". An actual cloud website hosting platform would allot the workload between different packs of servers in a cluster, which are devoted to attending miscellaneous web page hosting services (email, web space, statistics, DNS, databases, web space hosting Control Panel, and so on.) So, the file hosting solution is merely a type of a data storage hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even near.

- Image hosting: resembling file hosting; specific suppliers offer a hosting solution for images exclusively. This hosting kind is good if you wish to share an enormous quantity of pics with chums or acquaintances since the service is mostly free of cost. You will obtain a randomly generated link for every picture or album and you can then share this link. As with the file storage service, .html and .php files are not compatible, so the service cannot be used for web sites.

- E-mail hosting: a service devoted to handling your emails. Some providers offer web page hosting solutions for web pages, but do not provide an email service. If you wish to get an e-mail address with your domain name but do not desire to have a web site, then the email hosting service is what you require. You can set up email accounts and administer them, but there will be no hosting solution for the domains. The email hosting solution includes incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP servers.

- Video hosting: this solution allows you to upload and share videos. You can either share a link to some video, or you can embed the video in your website that is hosted somewhere else. The advantage of availing of this method instead of uploading the video file in a web hosting account is that the video clip generates a particular amount of central processing unit load, so with a bunch of videos and several hundred site visitors, you may have trouble with your web site hosting supplies. Embedding the video will permit you to keep as many videos as you desire without bothering about system reserves.

- Web site hosting: this is the solution that you need if you desire to own a site. To a certain extent, it encompasses all of the abovementioned hosting varieties since, along with your sites, you can also host pictures and files, you can keep databases and e-mail address accounts, upload video files, etc. At NTC Hosting, for example, you can take a look at web hosting and dedicated web hosting plans that permit you to get all of the aforesaid solutions in one single location. There may be limits depending on the type of hosting solution that you've chosen - a free hosting account, a paid shared hosting plan, a VPS or a dedicated server. Depending on that, your site hosting plan may be better or worse in comparison with the conventional e-mail/file/video/image hosting plans that are tailored for specific content only.
